What is dry eye?
As the name suggests it implies lack of enough lubrication or moisture on the surface of eye. There are plethora of causes ranging from trivial to fatal.
What are symptoms of dry eye?
-Feeling of tiredness
-Grittiness in the eyes
-Inability to open eyes in bright sunlight
-Watery eyes
-Foreign body sensation ( Person feels something is constantly rubbing against eye)
-Contact lens intolerance
What causes dry eye?
• It can be age related reduction of tear output
• Excessive computer use- also called as "computer vision syndrome "
• Exposure to Dry, dusty and windy atmosphere
• Eyelid related issues such as malpositioned lids, scarring of lids
• Side effects of certain medications
How dry eyes can be diagnosed?
-There are various tests available to measure your tear volume and ocular surface health

What treatments are available to treat dry eye?

- Mild dry eye can be managed satisfactorily with artificial tear supplements.
